From February 18, 2013 to March 1, 2013, KKOOM will host five youth from a Korean orphanage in Chicago, Illinois, USA. During this two-week program, the children will stay with Chicago area families, learn everyday English in an immersion environment, and also experience American culture firsthand. They will visit famous landmarks and museums in Chicago, go to a Chicago Bulls NBA basketball game, and also give a concert during their time in the area.


  • KKOOM-Baya Concert, featuring visiting youth from a Korean orphanage
  • When: Thursday, February 21, 7pm
  • Where: St. Teresa of Avila Parish, 1037 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614   http://www.st-teresa.net/
  • Additional: Please bring a suggested donation of $10 or donate a new backpack that will be used by a Korean orphan for the new school year that starts on March 4th. Parking is available in the church parking lot. All ages welcome; dress is casual.

  • KKOOM Social Fundraiser: A fundraiser to benefit Korean orphans, hosted by Korean adoptees Aimee Jachym and Erica Westrich
  • When: Friday, February 22, 6pm – 10pm
  • Where: Kelsey’s, 2265 North Lincoln, Chicago, IL 60614
  • Additional: $30 cash at the door; 4 hours of unlimited domestic drafts, house wine, and food buffet; all well cocktails and other drafts only $1. After 10pm, cash bar; ages 21 & up; dress is casual.
