12 Days of KKOOM – [#8] Empowering Korean Children

The children enjoy earning stickers to earn prizes for the Student of the Month program.

While providing gifts during the holiday season is an annual tradition for KKOOM, the children now have an opportunity every month to receive gifts they ask for. We are excited to be funding a new program to empower them to achieve personal and academic growth – Student of the Month.

Starting in September, a KKOOM-supported children’s home created a sticker reward system to encourage the children to complete household chores or do their best in school to receive good grades. The children are each awarded stickers for reaching certain milestones. The child that receives the most stickers earns a gift.

Since then, nineteen students have been awarded prizes. Each child can pick their own prize, valued at approximately twenty dollars. With such a positive response to the monthly reward program, one child is now chosen per house to receive a gift of their own choosing. It has boosted morale at the children’s home.

Incentivizing the children with a monthly reward keeps them focused on their academics while building life skills of responsibility, cooperation, and leadership. Their prizes have included soccer balls, makeup, phone cases, clothes, and more. This program helps show the children, no matter how big or small, every achievement can be celebrated.

Creating a more positive outlook on academic performance encourages the children to continue attending school. By creating healthier perspectives about school and maintaining cleanliness at home, the children are setting smart goals for themselves to achieve success in the future. Thank you for promoting positive life habits for the children!

With gratitude,
