As we continue ensuring Korean children are treated with dignity and respect, KKOOM has grown its vision to increase our impact through two new programs and outreach.
2024 marks the launch of the Girl’s Empowerment and Mentoring (GEM) program at a KKOOM-supported children’s home. KKOOM is committed to providing outcome driven programs to meet youth development needs for at-risk girls so they can flourish and thrive. For elementary, middle, and high school girls, we want to grow their self-confidence, build life skills, and expose them to new career opportunities, so they have easier access to pursue their dreams.
In addition to the launch of the GEM program this year, we announced in September that we are starting a brand new scholarship program – the KKOOM U.S. College Scholarship Program. This will allow young adults who have aged out of Korea’s social welfare system to pursue a higher education degree in the United States. Our first recipient of the U.S. College Scholarship will be TaeHyeon, a transfer student who is studying Finance at a university in New York.
KKOOM is growing in its mission because of the beautiful community that surrounds the children we serve. And that community includes you. There are so many great things happening for KKOOM and this Thanksgiving, we are more grateful than ever for your generosity. Let’s continue to change lives together, one moment at a time. May you and your loved ones continue to be safe, healthy, and blessed!
The “Cheers to 20 Years Holiday Campaign” officially begins on Giving Tuesday on December 3rd. We have increased the cost of one sponsored Christmas gift to $50 per child, to account for inflation and to also increase the amount of joy we can provide every Korean child we serve.
2024 is a special year for KKOOM as we celebrate making holiday traditions possible for a KKOOM-supported children’s home since 2004. Our goal this year is to provide gifts to approximately 150 children. All donations will be doubled on Giving Tuesday, up to $15,000. Help us bring Christmas cheer to Korean children so they know how loved they are!
With gratitude,
-Grace Lee, Executive Director
