Fulbright Korea Alumni Receive Grant to Support KKOOM’s Mission!

KKOOM is excited to announce that we have partnered with two Fulbright alumni who received a grant from the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (CDAF). The project,Dream(꿈)ing for a Brighter Future,” was one of the 43 winners selected for the 2024 CDAF grant out of hundreds of applications. CDAF is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and implemented by Global Ties U.S. in partnership with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Two alumni from the Fulbright Korea English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program, Chloe Sferra (2021-2022) and Allie Easterbrook (2021-2022), applied for the grant to help KKOOM plan a summer camp to build community for the girls we serve at a KKOOM-supported children’s home. Empowering the girls to dream bigger, the STEM-focused camp will take place in Seoul in July 2024. Thank you to Allie and Chloe for your dedication and passion to improve the lives of at-risk youth in South Korea!

The summer camp will include company tours from leading women in the STEM industry, while visiting South Korea’s top STEM facilities and participating in experiments at the Korean-American Educational Commission (KAEC) building in Seoul, South Korea. This camp will be the first of new initiatives for KKOOM to provide more career readiness and mentorship opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school girls living in Korea’s social welfare system. We have more news to share in the upcoming weeks about this specific initiative!

CDAF was launched in 2019 to address key foreign policy goals by empowering U.S. citizen alumni of U.S. government sponsored exchange programs (ExchangeAlumni) to support their communities through policy-inspired projects. To date, 277 teams of U.S. citizen ExchangeAlumni have been granted over $2.5 million to strengthen skills gained during their exchange programs, increase the effectiveness of exchange programming, advance U.S. foreign policy priorities, and address the needs of their communities.
