From Preschool to Elementary School: Update on HyungJun

Photo of HyungJun when he first arrived in 2017

HyungJun first arrived at a KKOOM-supported children’s home in 2017 when he was 11-months-old. He is a former preschool scholar and we wanted to ask his house mother a few questions to see how he’s been doing since his preschool days. Below is a direct translation of the answers from the house mother.

  1. What grade is HyungJun in now and how old is he?
    • He is in 2nd grade and is 7 years old
  2. When he first arrived, he was malnourished. How is HyungJun’s health now?
    • HyungJun arrived at a KKOOM-supported children’s home when he was 11-months old and he was underweight at 16 pounds. He is currently healthy!
  3. What are HyungJun’s favorite foods?
    • He likes hamburgers and chicken!
  4. What is HyungJun’s personality like?
    • Bright, cheerful, and active
  5. How have you seen HyungJun grow since arriving at Samsungwon in 2017?
    • He has regained his weight, is doing well in school, and has good peer relationships with others. He is doing well.

Now, HyungJun is 7 years old and staying healthy!

Without KKOOM’s support, HyungJun would not have attended school until he was 5 years old. His house mother is so thankful that he was able to attend preschool. Some of the benefits of early child education is that it improves a child’s overall well-being, curiosity, independence, and encourages social and emotional development. HyungJun’s enrollment in preschool made a big difference in his life, thanks to the support from the KKOOM community. Thank you for making dreams more possible by funding an early childhood education for HyungJun!
